At Momenta, we believe all children can learn - very definitely including those from low-income or immigrant families. We've created this new video to show what's possible. All of these scenes were filmed in schools with poverty rates of 70% or more and with a good percentage of children whose native tongue is not English. You'll see first graders who can separate fact from opinion, kindergarten students who can write 6 or 7 word sentences, and 5th graders debating whether genetically modified foods are (or are not!) the answer to world hunger. And students are doing this in small group centers, working collaboratively with their peers, while the teacher is on the other side of the room working with a small group.
